ONGOING CLASSES IN CREATIVE WRITING

Fee: $150 For 4 Consecutive Classes

You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else's path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else's way, You are not going to realize your potential. -- Joseph Campbell

Day classes:
Tuesday and Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Evening classes:
Wednesday and Thursday: 7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Each Class Meets Once A Week

Classes are limited to seven writers and take place in an aesthetic space, in an informal, calm atmosphere.  Meditation, music, literature and myths are used to spark and inspire one's creative process - a heart-based process, independent of any structure, paradigm or formula.  Experienced and beginning writers are welcome, and this includes people for whom English is not their first language.

Scrutinizing character and event or soaring high above to see shapes unseen from the ground, we find ourselves in a "free zone" - a place between reality and the imagination. In this place, real-life material is turned into fiction and the heart, main vein and beat of a story are revealed.

The stories, born out of events that shaped our lives and the people who effected us most, are written and read in the group.  Students are individually nurtured to find and express their unique writing style and literary form.  Some students write a new piece in each class; others work on longer pieces continued from week to week.  The feedback and group discussions are supportive, constructive, inspiring.

The Writing Studio™ is known for the diversity of countries, cultures, religions, ages and lifestyles represented by its students. The freedom to write the unspeakable in this environment results in deeply personal, moving stories. Each class is an opportunity to fan the fire of creativity and enjoy its flames.
